Sewing curtains is one way you can ensure getting the right touch for your window coverings and window treatments. When you sew your own curtains you can choose the fabric and style you want and make them exactly the size for your windows. Finding the right curtains for your window and your decorating style is often difficult, but there are options that will allow you to have the right color and style of curtains. By purchasing just the right fabric for your decor and your room, you can create your curtains yourself. Sewing curtains may seem like an impossibility if you are not very craftsy, but there are ways for you to create curtains for your window, no matter what your crafting skill level or sewing experience.

If you have some experience sewing, you will be happy to know that most curtains are very easy to sew. Curtain panels only need a hem on three sides and a rod pocket for the top, so that you can hang them on a curtain rod. If you can sew a straight line, then you will be able to make a basic curtain. You only have to choose the fabric and determine what size of curtains that you need and you will be well on your way to sewing curtains in no time to help dress up your windows.

If you want a specific style of curtain, then you may want to find instructions for creating the type of curtain that you have in mind. You can find patterns online and in fabric stores to create just about any style of curtain that you can imagine. By taking a pattern, cutting out the fabric for your particular curtain using the pattern, and sewing curtains, you will soon have a curtain to hang in your windows that you will love and be proud of.

You can also choose to make your own curtains without having to sew at all. Using iron-on adhesive, often called no-sew, Velcro, or fabric glue to hem the curtains and to create a rod pocket is one option for you. Another option that takes no effort is to use sheets. They have a ready-made pocket in the top of them that will allow you to put them on the rod without any sewing or crafting at all. You can then add embellishments to the curtains, using sequins, ribbons, beads, and more to create a one-of-a-kind look for your windows.

Sewing curtains can give you the curtains that you want and need. You only need to go to the fabric store or the fabric department in your local department store and you will see that the choices in fabric are many. This can allow you to find the perfect look and design for your room and your decor.

Whether you are an experienced sewer, a beginner sewer, or a non-sewer, sewing curtains could be just the thing to help create the perfect window treatments. Then you will have a look that fits your aesthetic needs that you will love and be proud of.
